Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 April 2026

Alertly is built and operated by Stackberry. This policy explains what information Alertly collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and human — if anything is unclear, contact us.

The short version

  • We use Sign in with Apple. We never see your email address or password.
  • We don't sell your data, run third-party ad networks, or share it with data brokers.
  • Notification content is forwarded to Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and not stored on our servers after delivery.
  • Your message history lives on your device, not on our servers.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us a stable, anonymous user identifier. This is what we use to associate your applications and subscription status with your account. We do not receive your name or email address through Sign in with Apple unless you explicitly choose to share them.

Application metadata

For each application you create inside Alertly, we store the application name, an internal identifier, and a hashed API token used to authenticate inbound webhook requests.

Device tokens

To deliver push notifications, we store the APNs device token issued by Apple to your iPhone. This token allows our server to route a notification to your specific device through Apple's infrastructure.

Notification payloads

When you POST a message to your Alertly endpoint, the payload (title, body, optional URL) passes through our server briefly so it can be signed and forwarded to APNs. Once Apple has accepted the payload for delivery, we delete our copy. We do not log, index, analyse, or share notification content.

Subscription and billing

If you subscribe to Alertly Pro, billing is handled entirely by the Apple App Store. We receive a signed transaction receipt from Apple confirming subscription status and renewal/expiry dates. We do not see your payment method, card details, or billing address.

Diagnostic and operational logs

Our server keeps short-lived operational logs (request timestamps, response codes, IP addresses, error traces) so we can keep the service reliable and investigate abuse. These are rotated automatically and are not used to build user profiles.

What we don't do

  • We don't run third-party advertising or behavioural ad networks.
  • We don't sell, rent, or share your data with data brokers.
  • We don't read or analyse the content of your notifications.
  • We don't store your message history on our servers — it stays on your device.

Where your message history lives

Messages you receive are stored locally on your iPhone, inside the Alertly app. We don't back them up to our server or to iCloud. Deleting a message from inside the app removes it immediately. Uninstalling the app removes all message history from your device.

Service providers

Alertly uses a small number of third parties to operate the service:

  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — delivers notifications to your device.
  • Apple App Store — handles subscription billing and Sign in with Apple.
  • Cloud hosting provider — hosts the Alertly API and database.
  • Transactional email provider — used only if we need to contact you about your account or a service issue (we do not send marketing email).

Each is bound by its own contractual data-handling commitments, and we share only the minimum information required for them to do their job.

Your rights and choices

  • Access and deletion — you can request a copy of the data associated with your account, or ask us to delete it, via our support form.
  • Cancelling Pro — manage or cancel your Alertly Pro subscription from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
  • Removing a device — delete a registered device from inside the app to revoke its APNs token.
  • Closing your account — uninstalling the app stops new messages from reaching you. To permanently remove your account and associated data from our servers, email us.

Data retention

Account, application, and subscription data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your data from production systems within 30 days. Operational logs are rotated on a short rolling window and deleted automatically.

Children

Alertly is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions that apply that threshold). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

International transfers

Alertly is operated from the United Kingdom. If you are using the service from outside the UK, your data may be transferred to and processed in the UK or in countries where our service providers operate. We rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page, and where appropriate we will notify you in-app. Continued use of Alertly after a change means you accept the updated policy.
